Who Invented Lip Gloss?

The first inventor of lip gloss was Max Factor in 1930. During that time, he was looking for ways through which he could make film actresses have glittery and polished lips when they were on camera. In 1928, there are many actresses who tried the lip gloss out and one of them was Lillian Gish. However, before Max Factor came into the picture, the theatrical industries had tried experimenting with the greasepaints that were applied in sticky forms. There was a problem though, because these paints could not be thinly applied to suit the actresses and the colors on the other hand were totally inappropriate.

It was for this reason that Max Factor came up with the thin greasepaints in form of cream having twelve different shades. All these were packed in jars then later in collapsible hygienic tubes. These products then grew to be the main makeup used by the film industries during that time. The foremost product created by Max Factor for purposes of marketable supply was known as X-Rated, which was profitably launched in 1932. The product made the lips of women lustrous and gave them delicate shines. They also gave a substitute to weighty lipsticks, allowing for more ordinary appearances that were not so weighty but were subtle and clear as well. In 2003, X-Rated formulae were continued productively up to the time when Gamble and Proctor bought them and ended up suspending the lip glosses.
