What to Do When Your Kenmore Refrigerator Needs Repair?

One of the many brands of refrigerator out there is Kenmore. In almost any product, label, brand, or model, we always hear or experience some being prone to malfunctions or breakage. It doesn’t necessarily mean the brand is not good but it may be due to the circumstances like how it was installed or how it was used among many other reasons. Kenmore refrigerator is not an exemption to malfunction. So if you think your Kenmore Refrigerator needs repair, there might be some things you can do before you call for professional help.

There are many possibilities why your Kenmore Refrigerator may not be working properly. It can be that your refrigerator has completely stopped working. Some Kenmore refrigerators may not be cooling at all or is cooling poorly. On other cases, it can be that the freezer ices up. Some on the other hand ices up even in the refrigerator part. There are some water drippings inside the refrigerator. Others don’t cycle off. Other Kenmore refrigerators may have some problem with their ice maker. 1. Repair a Kenmore Refrigerator that stopped completely
   1. First to check is the light is still on. Check if there is a sound that seems to be like a fan or motor working. If so, it means that your refrigerator is still working.
   2. Try adjusting your thermostat to the coldest setting and see it now works. If not, it’s now time to check the power.
   3. Check if there’s power on the outlet where your refrigerator is plugged. Plug other working appliances like any lamp, rice cooker, or even a microwave and see if it works. If it doesn’t then the problem is your power supply. Check the fuse and circuit breaker.
   4. If it’s not the problem, it would be best to contact an electrician.
   5. If the power is not the problem, then it could be any of parts of your Kenmore Refrigerator. It could be the compressor, defrost timer, thermostat, wiring, or even an overload or relay. If this is the case, then it’s time to call Kenmore for their repair service.
2. Your Kenmore Refrigerator doesn’t cool
   1. Check all knobs, settings, and power and make sure that they’re all set correctly. If it’s correct, then it is probably the compressor.
   2. Check the compressor by locating a football sized case at the back of your Kenmore refrigerator. Usually it’s at the bottom part.
   3. See if it’s making a noise, if it is, it means it is working. If not, then your compressor must be replaced. You may need to seek help from a professional if you need to change your compressor.
   4. If the compressor is not the problem, then it’s could be either your evaporator coils or condenser. This happens when any of the two are clogged with dust, dirt, or heavy frost.
   5. Unplug your refrigerator and clean it.
   6. Remove the panels inside your refrigerator and freezer and see if there’s any ice build-up. Defrost your refrigerator and clean it completely.
   7. When you’re done, put back the panels and test if it works.
