The high profile game was developed by Yukes and published by THQ.

UFC Game

UFC is a game that involves face-wrecking, flesh-pounding and bone-smashing events that have to be controlled and watched by the player. Everything is presented in a manner that cannot exist in reality-just a matter of fascination in a game. Judges rarely watch all the fights involved in this game – the participants have to square it out on their own no matter the circumstances. Therefore, the participants in the fights rock each other, spilt each other’s eyebrows and hit each other with sharp elbows. Other horrendous scenes in this game involve instances where some of the fighter’s knees are dislodged, and mouth guards are dislocated to expose the teeth. Further, bloodstained bodies of casualties in the fights collapse into canvas bags and are removed from the fighting arena. The game has refresher periods between various episodes.

Each of the three-round bouts lasts five minutes (although there are five bouts for title competitions). Each bout is ended by a knockout, referee intervention, or a tap-out. Fighters can use their skills in a variety of fighting techniques but have to avoid using obvious tactics such as biting, gouging, head butts and finger snapping. The player is allowed to participate in the game by choking opponents and using other devious means to win. This needs an hour or so of grooming the fighter.

The upside of playing UFC is that players are encouraged to develop many problem-solving skills including training of fighters and seeking external help to ensure that the fighters are well equipped. In addition, players are able to customize the game and play at their own pace. Nevertheless, the downside of the game is that in spite of the high-spirited fights involved, not the best player in the game always wins. This means that the game can be frustrating particularly to players who prove to be too focused on the game but do not become winners.
