It’s becoming harder and harder to find hiking backpacks that are worthwhile anymore. Companies jumped on the hiking bandwagon and without any prior knowledge of the sport they started manufacturing hiking everything. The quality of all hiking gear went downhill and it became impossible to find a decent backpack that wasn’t plastered with company logos and extras. The Teton Sports on the chopping block today is a very sturdy hiking backpack that suits hikers of almost all experience levels. Its low price also makes it a very easy way to get into the hiking scene without committing hundreds of dollars to it. So for the time being, the perfect balance of quality and cost is currently Teton Sports’ Fox backpack.

Ready for an Adventure?
To go through an entire review without mentioning the backpack’s size would just be a crime. Newbies and professionals alike comment on how much space the Teton has. You could easily fit two weeks’ worth of clothing into the bag to travel the world and still have space left over to carry your belongings. For the price alone, the amount of space available in the bag should be enough of a selling point. Also nice to see after the influx of poor quality goods in hiking gear is that the backpack is made very well. The materials are sturdy and can easily take a beating on a mountain or elsewhere. While we’re not hiking fanatics, we did notice that extra sleeping bag compartment on the backpack and figured it would be a very nice feature for anyone that goes hiking and camping quite frequently. Many past users of the backpack cited the compartment as a huge benefit of the backpack.
Onto the Bad
Unfortunately, there always has to be some bad news. Surely a backpack can’t cost as little as this one and be as good as we say it is, right? Correct. The Teton is overly heavy for its size. If you’ve got muscle, picking the bag up shouldn’t be a problem, but at an empty weight, there seems to be an unnecessary amount of dead weight that could be removed. And that leads us to our next qualm. The bag doesn’t fit the burly type of people you would need to carry the bag. We noticed that the bag was a little too small for an average height male. The bag would be perfect for females or young teenagers, but for a fully grown adult, the bag is simply too small. If you’re interested in a new hiking backpack and fit the stature of anything less than a full sized adult male, the Teton Sports Fox is your best bet.
