How the First Airplane Was Invented

The invention of the airplane was definitely among the most important stories in the world. Not only the story of the invention of the airplane is important, the invention itself is definitely a great deal to the human race. The invention of the airplane led to many other important stories and invention such as the first moon landing, first expedition, and many others. The credit mainly goes to the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur.

Before they were known as the Wright Brothers who invented the airplane, they were builders of bicycles and printers. These two self-trained engineers lived in Dayton, Ohio. So when people started to try creating an airplane, they did too. It was in 1899 when they really decided to create an airplane. They had that will and talent to overcome all the challenges of creating an airplane. In fact, their success was so sudden that a lot of inventors have doubted it because even scientists and engineers couldn’t do it.

What they first did was to start off from seven different experimental aircrafts. It was in 1899 that they started out first with the kite. As soon as they got the principle behind, the next thing on their mind was to create a glider. They wanted to perfect the glider that Sir George Cayley created a hundred years back. So in 1900 to 1902, they created three gliders one at a time each year. After perfecting the glider, the airplane was next. From 1903 to 1905, they created powered or engine-powered airplanes. They were smart to apply the lessons they’ve learned from their previous inventions. They started from scratch and laddered their way up from kites to airplanes. In fact, from their first glider created in 1900, the things that didn’t work out from that glider, they had to perfect in their second glider. What they did was to actually create their own wind tunnel. There they were able to acquire the data needed to gain the success they got in the second and third gliders and finally in the first successful airplane to be built in history.

It was in the 17th of December, 1903 that they made the first successful flight with pilot Kitty Hawk of North Carolina. It was a great success. It was the first successful flight in the history of mankind. After that, other aeronautical engineers followed their footsteps though they didn’t stop from there. They even create the first military airplane for the US in 1905. Of course, after that, other inventors created airplanes that have surpassed the first few airplanes that the Wright Brothers have created. And that is the story of the first airplane created in human’s history.
