Ovarian cysts are sacs filled with fluid that develop in the ovaries. Women get these cysts on and off and although they are not detrimental in most cases, some of them may be cancerous. This condition cannot be attributed to a single cause, which makes preventing and treating the condition difficult. Despite some ovarian cysts being cancerous, if treatment is not carried out in a timely manner, they may rupture and cause wide spread discomfort and pain. The cause of ovarian cysts is thus broad and may be approached from a conventional point of view.
According to conventional science, an ovarian cyst is a phenomenon that occurs naturally. They are unavoidable and thus the causes are beyond control. Ovarian cysts may be attributed to the genetic makeup of a woman. Some genes in the DNA cause formation of the ovarian cysts. Genetic disposition may be used to explain why some people tend to be susceptible to particular diseases. This is hereditary and may be a trait present in the family line. Hormonal imbalance is also another factor that is believed to cause cysts. Fro instance, if the hormone insulin is present in the system in high levels, it is believed that this contributes the development of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in certain women. The woman’s body is henceforth incapable of fully utilizing insulin leading to excess insulin accumulation.
According to studies conducted, some environmental pollutants mimic chemical activities related to natural hormones thus causing cysts in some cases. The studies have as well established that the process of ovary follicle creation is quite sensitive to environmental pollutants, which may damage the follicles.
